German
industrial conglomerate Siemens AG says it has donated 1 million euros ($1.1
million) to help with humanitarian assistance for the flood of asylum-seekers
coming to Germany.
CEO Joe Kaeser
told Germany's Bild newspaper Thursday that the company was also making
buildings and properties available in Bavaria, Berlin and North
Rhine-Westphalia for housing migrants.
Siemens had
already announced other efforts to help asylum-seekers, including providing
qualified employees up to five days off per year to volunteer at refugee
centers and a training program for newcomers.
The company says
it's also made another 250,000 euros in donations.
